Join Us Sept. 16 for 3rd Annual Fall Ball to Benefit Make-a-Wish Iowa
September 14, 2017
Just as in the movie Pinocchio, we often wish upon a star and ask for our heart’s desire. The star also brings hope for Make-a-Wish kids.
To help raise money so children with life-threatening medical conditions can receive “wish experiences,” Enchanted Acres is hosting the 3rd Annual Make-a-Wish Fall Ball to benefit Make-a-Wish Iowa. Join us Saturday, Sept. 16, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The $5 per person gate fee will be donated in full to Make-A-Wish. Gate admission covers the Peter Pan and Tinkerbell story time, hay rides, Justice League bounce house and face painting. Attendees may also enjoy visiting our friendly goats, playing on the recycled tire playground and wading through the “corn pool.”
Also this year, GBO Railroad will provide complimentary train rides from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Elsa and Anna characters from Frozen will meet and greet guests between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Franklin County Cattlemen will be serving hamburgers beginning at 11:30 a.m.
Another special addition to this year’s event is a raffle for a Make-a-Wish Sock Monkey donated by Sami’s Sock Monkeys. Sami also will have eight different monkey designs for sale that day, plus custom orders may be placed by contacting her directly. Check out more of her designs on Instagram @samis_sockmonkeys.
Samantha Schupanitz says she got interested in sock monkey when she was nine years old.
“I watched a movie called Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium, which is about a magical toy store. The movie had a very short scene featuring a sock monkey that changed my life,” says Samantha. “I fell in love and received my first sock monkey Christmas day 2009. I have been collecting and making sock monkeys since.”
“Through YEA I was able to learn a lot about what it takes to own a business. Most importantly, I realized I could turn my passion into a profit,” says Sami.
Most successful entrepreneurs realize the importance of finding a trusted advisor or two. Mentors can make a difference by reassuring you when times get tough, providing advice from lessons they’re learned along the way and impacting your business in other positive ways.
“While attending YEA, I had the opportunity to meet Brad and Angie Barber who own Cabin Coffee Company. They spoke to us about the importance of the customer. They also said if you love what you do you’ll never work a day in your life,” says Samantha. “Sami’s Sock Monkeys has given me that opportunity and I am beyond excited to see what the future will hold!”
Come get a hold of one of Sami’s Sock Monkeys this Saturday and register for your chance to win one in support of Make-a-Wish!
