The gates to our magical pumpkin patch will open for a special fall preview as part of the City of Sheffield’s Third Thursday on Sept. 19. You and your family can join us for an evening filled with our favorite fall activities and treats, including hayrides, spiced cider, pumpkin decorating and campfire s’mores.
Enchanted Acres will be open from 9 AM to 5 PM every Friday and Saturday and from 11 AM to 5 PM every Sunday from Sept. 20 through Oct. 29. Check out our 2019 Schedule of Events, and make plans to join us throughout the season. The items noted with an asterisk require advanced registration.
We’re kicking off the season by bringing back a few events, including Homeschoolers Days. The first two sessions will focus on chicks in honor of September as National Chicken Month. The October Homeschoolers Day will feature pork in celebration of October Pork Month. We’ll be taking delivery of newly hatched chicks, which we will raise for meat and eggs.
This year we’re also once again offering a season opening pancake brunch on Sunday, Sept. 22. Top your buttermilk or pumpkins pancakes with locally made products like apple butter and pumpkin butter, which is available for purchase inside The Market. Also be sure to check out one of our NEW products this year, which is homemade maple syrup from Pozarski Family Farms. (Click on this link to download a recipe from the Pozarski family for Soft Maple Sugar Cookies.)
The magic continues the second weekend of our 2019 season when we host the 5th Annual Fall Ball to Benefit Make-a-Wish Iowa. Guests are encouraged to dress in costume to make the day more magical. The gate entry fee is $5 per person, and all proceeds on Sunday will be donated to Make-a-Wish, which helps children with life-threatening medical conditions experience real-life wishes.
Princes, princesses and pixies will have additional opportunities this fall to make enchanted memories with unicorns. Those interested should pre-register for our parties on Oct. 6 and/or Oct. 19. Unicorn spin art will be provided as part of the Oct. 6 party; photos with a unicorn will be offered as part of the Oct. 22 party.
This year we’re excited to once again offer Goat Yoga, starring Lil’ Romeo and his Big Buddy, Chip. Our Nigerian dwarves, Domino and Diesel, will join the fun. Depending on Nibbles’ condition, she might also join a yoga session. Plus we’re introducing POUND® classes. Check out the dates and times for these classes, which are listed in our Schedule of Events.
SPECIAL NOTE: Every Friday is “free gate.” Those are only interested in picking pumpkins, shopping The Market or sipping a pumpkin spice latte can do so without paying an admission fee. The Marketplace Café is open on Fridays for beverages and pre-made snacks, but please note that we don’t offer the full concessions menu that is available on Saturdays and Sundays. If you’re interested in enjoying lunch or dinner nearby, check out Sheffield’s finest: Block 10 at 1921 City Hall and the West Fork Wharf.
It’s our hope that a visit (or two or three!) to Enchanted Acres becomes an annual tradition. We often post event updates throughout the season on Facebook, so be sure to “give us a like.” You can follow along with the fun all year long through Facebook and Instagram. In addition, we provide a complimentary quarterly newsletter to which you can subscribe by clicking here.
We look forward to seeing you see you soon at Enchanted Acres in Sheffield, Iowa, where memories grow!
